Levica criticizes lack of mandatory heat protection for workers in North Macedonia

The political party Levica has criticized the North Macedonian government for failing to implement mandatory protections for workers facing extreme heat. The party argues that current measures, such as the Heatwave Action Plan 2025–2030, rely on recommendations rather than binding regulations, leaving workers to bear the physical risks of high temperatures.

Levica noted that while the government's plan suggests avoiding work between 11:00 and 17:00 and taking frequent breaks, these are not legal requirements. The party contends that without mandatory laws regarding professional exposure to heat, employers are left to decide whether to pause operations, potentially prioritizing profit over worker safety. This criticism comes amid reports of rising workplace accidents in the country.
