Levica demands dismissal of Šutka Prison director Oliver Stankovski
The political party Levica has called for the immediate dismissal of Oliver Stankovski, the newly appointed director of the Šutka Prison in Skopje. The party alleges that Stankovski is a former convict who was pardoned by former President Gjorge Ivanov in 2016 after serving a prison sentence.
According to Levica, Stankovski’s career path following his pardon included working for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and serving on the immediate security detail for Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski before his appointment to lead the prison. The party argues that such a background lacks the necessary integrity and expertise required for sensitive roles within the penal system.
Levica further claimed that this is not an isolated incident, citing Emil Janeski, the director of the Prilep prison, who faces criminal charges for improper work, and another individual, Eljezi, whose appointment to Idrizovo prison was withdrawn after it was revealed he had previously served time for drug-related offenses.
