Levica demands return of Gevgelija farmland from failed industrial zone

The Levica political party is calling for the immediate cancellation of a non-functional technological-industrial zone in Prdejci, located in the fertile Gevgelija Valley. The party claims that over 50 hectares of land have been stalled for fourteen years following a 2012 announcement by former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski regarding the establishment of a seventh industrial zone.

According to Levica, the area—intended for factories and mass employment—remains empty, consisting only of vacant plots and debris, while the country continues to import food. The party criticizes both the previous VMRO-DPMNE administration and the current government for failing to utilize the land. They are demanding that the government, the TIRZ Directorate, and relevant ministries amend the planning documentation to return the land to agricultural use and lease it to local farmers.
