Levica party protests Skopje City Council procedural changes

The Levica political group has issued a formal protest against the Skopje City Council, accusing the DPMNE majority and Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski of undermining democratic debate. The dispute centers on a new procedural practice where council questions are grouped together and answered collectively, rather than allowing individual councilors to ask questions, receive immediate responses, and request clarifications.

Levica representatives argue that this method eliminates direct oversight of the mayor, city administration, and public enterprises, turning a mechanism for accountability into a one-sided presentation. The party has warned that if the practice continues, they will not allow sessions to proceed in a normal manner. In a recent session, members expressed their protest through whistling in the council chamber and have requested that answers to their questions be provided in written form to ensure they are not ignored.
