Levica party walks out of Skopje City Council session
The Levica political group walked out of a Skopje City Council session to protest new procedures regarding councilor questions. The party claims that Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski and VMRO-DPMNE have implemented a system that forces all questions to be asked at the beginning of the session, with responses provided in a manner that prevents real debate or direct confrontation with the mayor, public enterprise directors, and city administration.
Levica argues that this new model limits democratic oversight and violates the Council’s Rules of Procedure. They contend that instead of allowing elected representatives to hold city authorities accountable for the management of resources, the process has been turned into a “PR circus” where answers are reduced to pre-prepared bureaucratic replies. The party also criticized SDSM for remaining in the session, viewing their presence as support for these procedural changes.
