Levski goalkeeper Svetoslav Vutsov leads Europa League saves despite error

Levski goalkeeper Svetoslav Vutsov currently leads the UEFA Europa League in saves with 14 recorded during the first two rounds, following matches against Red Bull Salzburg and NEC Nijmegen.

Despite this statistical achievement, Vutsov's performance against NEC Nijmegen was marked by a significant error in the 64th minute. A misplaced pass allowed Tyron Chery to score the equalizer, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Levski head coach Julio Velásquez defended the goalkeeper, stating, “We are one single family... We do not personalize the blame.”

Former Levski captain Nikolay Mihaylov and Velislav Vutsov also commented on the incident. Velislav Vutsov noted the difficulty of playing a style that requires high involvement from the goalkeeper, while Mihaylov emphasized that Vutsov had played a nearly perfect match prior to the mistake. The team now prepares for a Bulgarian Cup match against Spartak Pleven.
