Levski Sofia crowned Bulgarian champions after victory over Ludogorets

Levski Sofia secured the 2025‑26 Bulgarian First League title after a 1‑0 win over CSKA 1948 earlier in the season, mathematically guaranteeing the championship ahead of the final round. The official coronation will take place on 9 May 2026 at the Georgi Asparuhov stadium (Gerena) when Levski face defending champions Ludogorets. The match and the award ceremony will be broadcast live on Diema Sport, and the team will receive gold medals after the game.

Commentators noted that Ludogorets’ decline contributed to the outcome, but emphasized that Levski earned the title through key victories, including those against Plovdiv clubs and CSKA 1948. The club’s new owner, Atanas Bostandzhiev, is already planning a transfer‑market push, with potential signings such as Valon Hamdiu from Septemvri and decisions pending on contracts of Carlos Ochoa and captain Georgi Kostadinov.

Following the championship match, the Bulgarian Football Union’s disciplinary commission fined Levski €6,288.89 for multiple infractions, including the use of flares, delays in starting the match and the second half, offensive chants, and failure to fulfill obligations toward child protection during the event.
