Levski Sofia needs a top striker to compete in Europe, says Lachezar Tanev

Football manager and analyst Lachezar Tanev has commented on the performance of Bulgarian clubs in European competitions, specifically highlighting the development of Levski Sofia and CSKA Sofia.

Tanev noted that Levski Sofia is evolving into a European-caliber team, praising their organizational improvements and the expertise brought in by new management. However, he identified a critical deficiency in the squad: the lack of a high-quality central striker of Central European standard or higher. He argued that while the team performs well in defense, ball possession, and wing play, they struggle in the final 30 meters of the pitch due to the absence of a clinical finisher.

Reflecting on Levski's match against RB Salzburg, Tanev suggested that the team's technical capabilities in possession and defense were comparable to the Austrian side, but emphasized that individual class in a striker cannot be taught by a coach. He expressed confidence that the club will eventually find a suitable player to fill this role.
