Levski Sofia targets Champions League play‑offs as European clubs eye its players

Levski Sofia continued its impressive European run, securing a late‑goal win over Kazakh side Kayrat Almaty and moving one step closer to the Champions League play‑offs. If they overcome the next round, they will face Greek champions AEK Athens. Participation in the play‑offs guarantees at least €4.29 million, enough to cover the club’s €3.52 million summer transfer spending, which included signings such as Renaldo (€1.5 m), Sercinho (€1 m), David Kuso (€0.9 m) and Mehdi Mubarak (€0.12 m).

European clubs from the top five leagues have shown strong interest in Levski’s players. French journalist Rudi Galeti reported inquiries from Rennes and English side Wolverhampton for goalkeeper Svetoslav Vutsov, who has been pivotal in Levski’s recent successes. Other Levski talents, including Akram Buras, Christian Makun and Maikon, are also linked with clubs in Greece, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey, France and Italy.
