Barcelona pushes major summer signings as key exits free up wage space

Barcelona confirmed the €80 million signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United on a contract until 2031, adding a versatile forward to Hansi Flick’s attack. The club also finalised the permanent transfer of Ansu Fati to AS Monaco after exercising an €11 million buy‑out clause; Barcelona will retain a sell‑on clause and gain salary relief to meet a 1:1 wage ratio.

Negotiations are ongoing for several other targets: Julian Álvarez, with a €100 million offer reportedly rejected; Bernardo Silva, whose free transfer from Manchester City is in final contract talks; and Marcus Rashford, for whom Barcelona holds a €30 million purchase option that Manchester United has refused to lower. Roony Bardghji is expected to move on loan, with Ajax leading the race, while Porto and other clubs have also shown interest.

The club is also linked with former striker Robert Lewandowski possibly joining Turkish side Fenerbahçe after his Barcelona contract ends on 30 June. These moves aim to free wage space, comply with financial‑fair‑play rules and fund further acquisitions, reflecting Flick’s strategy of building a flexible squad where new signings complement rather than replace existing attacking players such as Raphinha.
