Lewis Hamilton admits strategic error at Singapore Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has addressed his decision to ignore Ferrari's strategic instructions during the Singapore Grand Prix, an error that cost him a potential podium finish. During a Virtual Safety Car period, Hamilton chose to remain on track instead of making a pit stop, a move intended to gain a competitive advantage over teammate Charles Leclerc.

The gamble resulted in significant tire degradation toward the end of the race, causing Hamilton to drop to a sixth-place finish. Speaking ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Hamilton acknowledged the mistake, stating, “It is hard to accept at first, but it is important to learn from such experiences.” He noted that his goal was to find a way to win rather than following a strategy that would have left him behind Leclerc.

Despite the tactical failure, Hamilton stated that his relationship with the Ferrari team remains intact and that they have held discussions on improving future cooperation. However, former professional driver Ralf Schumacher expressed concerns regarding internal team dynamics, suggesting there may be friction between Hamilton and the team as the driver seeks a leadership role within the Scuderia.
