Lewis Hamilton blames Ferrari strategy and penalty for missing podium at Hungarian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton said a late pit stop ordered by Ferrari and a five‑second penalty for exceeding the pit‑lane speed limit prevented him from finishing on the podium at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Starting from second on the grid, Hamilton ran in podium contention before being called in on lap 57 to change tyres, a decision he described as puzzling because he believed he had enough pace to stay out and fight for second place. After the stop he was handed the penalty, which dropped him from third to fifth behind Kimi Antonelli and Charles Leclerc.

Hamilton also voiced frustration with recent steward rulings, noting inconsistencies such as a false‑start call at the British Grand Prix and a penalty for impeding Oscar Piastri in Hungary. He pledged to avoid giving stewards any reason to penalise him in future races, while acknowledging his record eight victories at the Hungaroring and his desire to return to the front of the field.
