Lewis Hamilton claims first Ferrari victory at Barcelona Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton secured his first win for Ferrari at the Barcelona‑Catalonia Grand Prix, ending a winless spell that stretched back to the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix. The triumph marked Ferrari’s first victory since Carlos Sainz’s win in Mexico in October 2023 and gave Hamilton his 106th career win, extending his record as the most successful driver in Formula 1 history.
British newspapers highlighted the emotional significance of the victory, with La Gazzetta dello Sport featuring Hamilton on its cover under the headline “Sono tornato” (“I’m back”). Hamilton said after the race, “You reminded me who I am,” thanking the team for their support. The podium was completed by fellow Britons George Russell (Mercedes) in second and Lando Norris (McLaren) in third, underscoring a strong performance by British drivers.
The win moved Hamilton to 115 points in the drivers’ standings, narrowing the gap to championship leader Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes, who leads with 156 points.
