Lewis Hamilton credits Ferrari upgrades for podium run ahead of Barcelona Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has secured consecutive podium finishes this season, finishing second at the Monaco Grand Prix and repeating the result in Canada. The seven‑time world champion now sits second in the drivers' standings with 66 points, two behind Max Verstappen and ahead of teammate George Russell.

Speaking at the media day before the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona‑Catalunya, Hamilton said the progress stems from his greater involvement in car development, noting that he helped shape new aerodynamic and brake components. He highlighted a brake‑package change he had requested from Japan that Charles Leclerc will adopt, but stressed that brakes are not the sole factor in his improved performance. While he doubts Ferrari’s power unit can out‑compare Mercedes this year, Hamilton believes advances in efficiency, aerodynamics and teamwork give the Italian team a stronger chance to challenge the German rivals.

Hamilton emphasized collective effort, saying, "It's a combination of many moving parts working together," and praised team principal Fred Vasseur for supporting his ideas. He concluded that the team must continue to improve on every circuit to stay competitive in the championship.
