Lewis Hamilton arrives at Monza in restored Ferrari F40
Lewis Hamilton made a high-profile arrival at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, driving a restored Ferrari F40. The vehicle, which Hamilton described as his ‘dream car,’ had been sitting in a garage for over 30 years and had only been driven 69 kilometers by its previous owner before being purchased. During the restoration process by Ferrari technicians in Maranello, a significant coincidence was discovered: the number 44, Hamilton’s signature racing number, was stamped on the engine block.
Beyond the spectacle, Hamilton is targeting a historic milestone at Monza, aiming to become the first Black driver to win for Ferrari at the team’s home circuit. While he has won at Monza five times previously, he has yet to secure a victory in Ferrari colors.
Ferrari has also introduced an engine upgrade for the Monza weekend to address previous top-speed deficits. This technical boost is expected to impact the competitive landscape, with driver Kimi Antonelli noting that Ferrari’s straight-line speed is now matching Mercedes.
