Lewis Hamilton faces trust concerns with Ferrari strategy
Lewis Hamilton’s relationship with Ferrari is facing scrutiny following strategic disagreements during recent races. Former F1 strategist Bernie Collins suggested that Hamilton’s decision-making indicates a lack of trust in the team’s technical and strategic direction.
During the Singapore Grand Prix, Hamilton finished sixth after declining to pit under a virtual safety car on lap 40. While teammate Charles Leclerc pitted and secured a second-place finish, Hamilton remained on track in an attempt to make a one-stop strategy work, eventually struggling on aging tires. Collins questioned the validity of Hamilton’s claim that he missed the pit entry, noting that a driver of his experience is unlikely to make such an error.
This incident follows a similar disagreement at the Malaysian Grand Prix, where Hamilton challenged the team’s instruction to switch from dry tires to intermediates. Collins noted that these repeated instances suggest a fundamental issue where Hamilton is questioning the pit wall's decisions rather than following team protocols.
