Lewis Hamilton motivated to race until age 45 following Africa F1 announcement
Lewis Hamilton has stated he feels “forced” to continue competing in Formula 1 until the age of 45 following the confirmation of a new Grand Prix in Africa. The announcement details a ten-year agreement to host a race in Bugesera, Rwanda, starting in the early 2030s on a newly constructed circuit.
A long-time advocate for African representation in the sport, the seven-time world champion noted that he has spent years meeting with stakeholders and various African heads of state to push for the continent's inclusion. Hamilton emphasized that Africa “deserves” a place on the F1 calendar and expressed his desire to see the dream of racing on the continent realized.
During his time at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Hamilton also commented on his future and his upcoming teammate, Kimi Antonelli, noting that he looks forward to racing with him for a significant period.
