Lewis Hamilton narrowly misses pole at Barcelona, eyes Ferrari win

Lewis Hamilton qualified second for the Barcelona‑Catalunya Grand Prix, finishing just 0.064 seconds behind pole‑sitter George Russell. It was Hamilton’s first front‑row start for a race since joining Ferrari, and he said a flawless effort would be required to challenge the Mercedes pilots for victory.

Hamilton noted the extreme heat and tyre wear at the circuit, stressing that tyre management would be decisive. He also mentioned the disadvantage of Charles Leclerc’s crash in qualifying, which left the Ferrari pair without a teammate for the race. Team boss Toto Wolff praised Hamilton’s speed but pointed out a small mistake that may have cost him pole.
