Lewis Hamilton retires from Spanish Grand Prix due to brake failure
Lewis Hamilton failed to finish the Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring circuit due to a brake failure. The incident ended a streak in which the Ferrari driver had finished in the top 10 in each of the first 13 rounds of the 2026 season.
During the race, Hamilton experienced a sudden loss of braking pressure near turn 5, causing him to run wide and make slight contact with the barrier. Ferrari officials ultimately decided to retire the car for safety reasons.
Reports following the retirement suggest growing tension within the team. According to Corriere della Sera, Hamilton has expressed dissatisfaction with the team's performance and has reportedly requested changes to Ferrari's staff roster. These tensions are said to be affecting his relationship with team principal Fred Vasseur as Hamilton's pursuit of an eighth world championship faces increasing difficulty.
