Lewis Hamilton says Ferrari can still fight for his eighth Formula 1 title

British driver Lewis Hamilton expressed confidence that Ferrari can contend for his eighth World Drivers' Championship. After the Hungarian Grand Prix, Hamilton is second in the standings with 45 points, trailing Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli.

Hamilton noted the team’s progress and the car’s remaining development potential, especially following a strong showing at the Spa‑Francorchamps race where Ferrari’s SF‑26 finished second behind Antonelli. He highlighted that Antonelli’s performance was less "ballistic" than usual, giving Ferrari a closer chance at victory. Hamilton also explained his earlier crash with George Russell at Spa, which caused damage to his car and a five‑second penalty, but he still managed a podium finish.

Overall, Hamilton believes the improvements made by Ferrari and the current form of rival drivers keep the title fight alive for the remainder of the 2026 season.
