Lewis Hamilton secures first Ferrari win at Barcelona GP

Lewis Hamilton claimed his first victory for Scuderia Ferrari at the 2026 Barcelona‑Catalunya Grand Prix, marking his 106th career win and ending a 686‑day drought since his last triumph at the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix. An aggressive three‑stop tyre strategy and a well‑timed Virtual Safety Car allowed Hamilton to surge ahead of pole‑sitter George Russell, who finished second, while Lando Norris completed an all‑British podium – the first such sweep since 1968.

The race also saw championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli retire with a mechanical failure on the final laps, reducing his lead over Hamilton to 41 points. Max Verstappen completed the top five, and several front‑runners including Charles Leclerc and Fernando Alonso retired, ending Mercedes' unbeaten run for the season. Hamilton praised the team, especially team principal Fred Vasseur, for the support that helped achieve the historic win.

Ferrari moved to second in the constructors’ standings behind Mercedes, and Hamilton’s triumph injects fresh intrigue into the title fight as the season heads toward the next round in Austria.
