Lewis Hamilton supports Middle East races and rejects Monaco Sprint
Lewis Hamilton has addressed two distinct aspects of the Formula 1 calendar. Regarding the season-ending races in the Middle East, Hamilton expressed his desire for the Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix to proceed as scheduled. Despite regional tensions, he stated he “trusts” F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali to manage organizational decisions and noted that current reports suggest conditions remain stable for hosting major events.
Separately, Hamilton criticized the decision to introduce a Sprint Race to the Monaco Grand Prix in the 2027 season. While acknowledging the beauty of the circuit, he described the race as “as dull as it gets” and argued that a Sprint Race is not the correct solution to improve entertainment at the venue. He suggested that Monaco requires a unique race formula rather than the standard format used elsewhere on the calendar.
