Ferrari's upgrades pressure Mercedes as Hamilton wins Barcelona GP

Lewis Hamilton secured victory at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, ending Andrea Kimi Antonelli's five‑race winning streak and narrowing the drivers' championship gap to 41 points. Ferrari, benefiting from a major aerodynamic upgrade package and the opportunity to develop its power unit under FIA ADUO rules, appeared more competitive, prompting Mercedes technical director James Allison to acknowledge the team's recent performance gains.

Antonelli cited reliability problems with his Mercedes‑powered car after a late‑race failure and urged the team to resolve the issue before the next round in Austria. Allison reiterated that Mercedes will treat both drivers equally and emphasized that the team's primary focus remains the constructors championship, not favouring any driver.

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur declined to comment on title prospects, warning against reading too much into a single race. Meanwhile, F1 chief Stefano Domenicali expressed his hope that veteran driver Fernando Alonso will remain in the sport for many years, provided he has a competitive car.
