Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari comeback earns podiums in Monaco and Canada

Lewis Hamilton secured a second‑place finish at the Monaco Grand Prix and a third place in Montreal, lifting him to third in the drivers' championship with 106 points, ahead of George Russell. The results marked a resurgence for the British driver after a difficult debut season with Ferrari in 2025.

Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve cautioned that “the podiums were achieved on circuits that favor Ferrari; I want to see how Hamilton responds on faster tracks where tyre degradation is a bigger factor.” Mercedes chief Toto Wolff echoed respect for Hamilton’s talent but maintained confidence in his own team.

Former teammate Valtteri Bottas said Hamilton appears “more comfortable with the current generation of cars” and suggested the SF‑26 may suit his driving style better, noting the “small margins” that make a big difference in Formula 1.

The strong performances revive the championship battle as the season moves toward the Austrian round, where the high‑speed Spielberg circuit will test Ferrari’s aerodynamic development and Hamilton’s ability to challenge Red Bull and Mercedes.
