Lewis Koumas matches Steven Gerrard's Champions League record

Liverpool forward Lewis Koumas has achieved a historic milestone by matching a record previously held by club legend Steven Gerrard. During a UEFA Champions League away match against LASK, which ended in a 6-3 victory for Liverpool, the 21-year-old Welsh international recorded both a goal and an assist in a single game.

Koumas is only the second Liverpool player aged 21 or younger to achieve this feat in the Champions League, the first being Gerrard against Dynamo Kyiv in October 2001. The match also highlighted a trend toward youth under manager Andoni Iraola, as Liverpool fielded a starting XI with an average age of 24 years and 186 days, marking the third youngest lineup in the club's Champions League history.

Following his recent Premier League start against Manchester City, Steven Gerrard expressed pride in Koumas's temperament and work rate. Despite a 0-3 loss in that fixture, Gerrard noted that the young attacker showed the necessary courage and composure to compete at a high level, particularly given the pressure of playing at Anfield.
