Texas barber returns $128,514 found on top of Bank of America ATM
A 37-year-old barber in Lewisville, Texas, discovered $128,514 in cash and 19 checks left on top of a Bank of America ATM on August 3. The man, who requested anonymity, initially attempted to locate the owner by visiting a nearby Chick-fil-A after seeing information on the bag that suggested a connection to the restaurant. After the manager confirmed the funds did not belong to the establishment, the man contacted 911 to turn the money over to the Lewisville Police Department.
An investigation by local police determined that the money belonged to Bank of America and was being managed by Brinks, a cash handling and transport company. It appears a Brinks technician accidentally left the bag on top of the machine while performing maintenance. Officers used electronic counters to verify the amount, confirming it matched the bank receipt found inside the bag to the exact dollar. Police stated there were no signs of criminal activity related to the incident, and the full amount has been returned to the bank.
