Álex Ruiz avoids injury after court glass shatters in Mexico

During the semifinals of the FIP Gold tournament in San Luis, Mexico, 2021 world champion Álex Ruiz was involved in a dangerous incident when one of the back glass panels of the court shattered.

Ruiz reported that both he and the spectators remained uninjured despite the sudden breakage. Following the incident, Ruiz and partner Franco Dal Bianco continued the match, defeating González-Meléndez before eventually falling to Chozas-Rubinien in the final.

The event highlights ongoing safety concerns regarding court materials in professional padel, recalling a 2018 incident where player Paquito Navarro required hospital treatment after colliding with a glass panel during a tournament in Portugal.
