Lex Schoenmaker statue to be unveiled in The Hague

A bronze statue honoring ADO Den Haag icon Lex Schoenmaker will be officially unveiled on Thursday, September 17, at Heldenplein near the club's stadium. The unveiling ceremony will be performed by Mayor Jan van Zanen.

The statue, created by sculptor Loek Bos, will be situated next to the existing statue of club legend Aad Mansveld. The project was initiated by supporters Ed Slier and Ruud Albrecht to provide a lasting tribute to Schoenmaker during his lifetime. The initiative was managed by the Stichting Waardering Voetbaliconen ADO Den Haag.

The project was made possible following a July 2025 motion by the Hague City Council. Funding was secured through a crowdfunding campaign that exceeded its original goals, which included raising 30,000 euros from supporters and 70,000 euros from the business community.
