Lex Schoenmaker unveils statue in The Hague

Football icon Lex Schoenmaker has unveiled a statue in his honor at Heldenplein in The Hague. The 79-year-old former ADO Den Haag striker participated in the unveiling alongside Mayor Jan van Zanen and supporter Ed Slier.

The statue, designed by artist Loek Bos, joins that of fellow club legend Aad Mansveld. The project was made possible through a fundraising campaign initiated over a year ago by the Stichting Waardering Voetbaliconen ADO Den Haag.

Schoenmaker, who debuted for ADO in 1965, played nearly 300 competitive matches for the club and scored almost 100 goals. His career also includes winning the KNVB Cup with ADO and securing the Dutch national championship and the UEFA Cup as a player for Feyenoord in 1974.
