Lexington Park man sentenced to 16 years for fentanyl distribution
Jamal Kedrick Demetrius Davis, 30, of Lexington Park, Maryland, has been sentenced to a total of 16 years of active incarceration following a fentanyl distribution charge and probation violations.
St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling announced that Davis received a 20-year sentence for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, with 8 years to be served. An additional 8-year sentence was imposed consecutively due to violations of probation from two prior cases. The remaining 12 years of the drug sentence were suspended.
The incident occurred on March 1, when a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop Davis’s vehicle for running a red light. During the attempted stop, the vehicle accelerated, and a deputy observed a clear plastic baggie containing a gray powdery substance being thrown from the window. Lab testing confirmed the substance was fentanyl. A search of the vehicle uncovered baking soda and over $6,000 in cash. Davis pleaded guilty to the charges in August.
