Lexington park shooting kills one and wounds four

A mass shooting occurred at Charles Young Park in downtown Lexington, Kentucky, during an outdoor concert on Saturday evening. The incident, which took place around 6:45 p.m., left one person dead and four others wounded.

The victims included two children, aged 4 and 14, along with two adults. All four survivors were transported to a local hospital with injuries described by police as non-life-threatening. The shooting happened approximately one mile from the Hyatt Regency, where Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear was delivering a speech at a Democratic Party dinner.

Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers stated that while the investigation is active, there is no ongoing threat to the public. The city issued an emergency mobilization plan, declaring a police staffing emergency to assist with the response. Authorities have not yet released information regarding a suspect or a motive.
