LexisNexis disables three services following suspicious third-party server activity
LexisNexis has taken three of its services offline following the detection of “unusual activity” on servers managed by a third-party vendor. The affected services include Nexis Diligence, a compliance and background check tool; Nexis Newsdesk, a media monitoring service; and the Nexis Metabase API, which provides news data streams.
Todd Larsen, president of Nexis Solutions, stated that the decision to disconnect from the third-party systems was a proactive measure to protect customer data and maintain the integrity of the company’s own environment. The company is currently working with a cybersecurity forensic firm to investigate the incident and remediate the issue.
While Nexis Diligence began returning to service over the weekend, it was initially operating without its full content catalog. Newsdesk and the Metabase API were expected to return progressively following successful testing. Some customers have expressed intent to seek compensation for the disruption, noting the high costs of these essential professional services.
