Lexus and Nissan announce updated SUV models in Japan

Major automotive manufacturers are introducing updated SUV models in the Japanese market. Lexus has released improvements to its GX series, including the GX550 OVERTRAIL+ and the 7-seat version L. The OVERTRAIL+ features enhanced off-road capabilities through improved suspension control, steering, and larger diameter tires. Both models utilize a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Nissan has also updated its X-Trail mid-size SUV. The latest iterations include various trim levels such as the G, X, and NISMO e-4ORCE, alongside customized versions like AUTECH and ROCK CREEK. These updates focus on equipment enhancements, exterior design adjustments, and the integration of the NissanConnect infotainment system. The X-Trail utilizes the e-POWER hybrid system and offers both 5-seat and 7-seat configurations.

Additionally, there is renewed consumer interest in the concept of ultra-compact luxury vehicles, highlighted by the legacy of the Lexus LF-SA concept. While the current LBX remains a successful small SUV, discussions continue regarding the potential for even smaller, high-end urban vehicles that cater to narrow city streets and limited parking spaces.
