Lexus announces engine remedy for GX and LX SUV recall

Lexus Australia has announced a remedy for a mechanical issue affecting 789 GX550 and LX600 off-road SUVs. The recall concerns the twin-turbocharged 3.4-litre petrol V6 engines, which may contain machining debris left over from the manufacturing process.

If this debris adheres to the crankshaft main bearings, it could lead to bearing failure during high-load engine operation. Lexus dealers will conduct inspections lasting approximately two hours to determine if repairs are necessary. While the remedy is free of charge, engine replacement will be performed only if required. Lexus has stated that courtesy vehicles will be provided if an engine replacement necessitates a longer period without the vehicle.
