Lexus develops electric successor to LFA supercar

Lexus is progressing toward the production of an electric successor to its iconic LFA supercar. Recent spy shots of a camouflaged prototype reveal a vehicle with a low silhouette, an elongated hood, and an aggressive rear wing, closely resembling the brand's previously unveiled concept car.

While the vehicle will share a chassis architecture with the Toyota GR GT and GR GT3, it will differ significantly in powertrain. Unlike the hybrid V8 engines found in the Toyota models, the new Lexus is expected to be a pure battery electric vehicle (BEV). The prototype's dimensions appear larger than the original LFA, measuring approximately 4.71 meters in length, 2.04 meters in width, and 1.19 meters in height.

To replicate the emotional driving experience of the original V10-powered model, Lexus has patented technology for a simulated manual transmission. This software-driven system aims to mimic the sensation of clutch engagement and gear shifts by electronically modulating motor torque, allowing drivers to control the aggressiveness of the simulated shifts via paddle shifters.
