Lezama to host 2026 National Zero Waste Argentina Meeting

The city of Lezama will host the III National Zero Waste Argentina Meeting in October 2026. Organized by the Basura Cero Argentina movement, the three-day event at the General San Martín Cultural Complex will focus on the circular economy, waste utilization, and productive opportunities arising from discarded materials.

The gathering aims to promote alternatives to the traditional produce-consume-discard model through reduction, reuse, repair, and recycling. It will include business rounds designed to connect material recovery workers with processors and small to medium-sized enterprises to foster local development and job creation.

In related environmental monitoring, a recent waste census conducted along the Buenos Aires coast, including Monte Hermoso, identified plastics and cigarette butts as the most prevalent pollutants. Preliminary data from the Coastal Buenos Aires Network indicates that approximately 80% of the waste found along the coast consists of plastics and cigarette butts.
