LFP prepares new tender for Ligue 1 TV rights through 2032

The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) is preparing a new tender process in November for Ligue 1 broadcasting rights covering the 2027–2032 period. The goal is to secure a major broadcaster capable of generating higher revenue than the current Ligue 1+ platform, which has struggled to resolve the financial difficulties of French clubs despite averaging approximately 1.1 million subscribers.

To attract audiovisual groups, the LFP is shifting its strategy by bundling all matches into a single lot. This would allow one broadcaster to offer the entire championship on a single platform. The LFP is considering two options: selling rights to a group that produces and broadcasts the matches itself, or granting exclusive distribution rights to a partner, which could potentially end Ligue 1+'s availability on various current platforms.

Regarding current performance, Ligue 1+ marketing director Jérôme Cazadieu reported that the platform has reached 14 million people since the start of the season. High-profile matches, such as the OM-PSG derby, have seen viewership peaks exceeding one million. While the platform faces economic challenges, Cazadieu noted a 96% subscriber satisfaction rate and significant engagement on social media.
