LG and NVIDIA partner on humanoid robots, AI factories, and mobility
LG Corp and NVIDIA have signed a memorandum of understanding to accelerate collaboration in three key areas: humanoid robotics, AI-driven factories, and next-generation mobility. The agreement, signed by LG Chairman Kwang Mo Koo and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, transitions their partnership from strategic planning to active execution.
In robotics, LG is developing a bipedal humanoid robot powered by NVIDIA’s Jetson Thor computing platform, Isaac GR00T foundation model, and Halos for Robotics safety system. A public unveiling is planned for the first quarter of 2027. As an immediate step, LG will test its CLOiD wheel-based robot at a washing machine manufacturing plant in Tennessee, USA, within this year to validate its performance in real-world manufacturing environments.
Regarding AI infrastructure, LG plans to establish an AI factory reference site using NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform in the first half of 2027. This will lead to the construction of a larger 80-megawatt AI factory in Cheonan, South Korea, by the first half of 2028.
In the mobility sector, the companies will collaborate on a next-generation AI-defined vehicle platform utilizing NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion technology, aiming to expand LG’s automotive business from infotainment into autonomous driving capabilities.
