LG and Nvidia partner to develop humanoid robots and AI infrastructure
LG and Nvidia have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding to accelerate the development of humanoid robots, AI infrastructure, and autonomous mobility systems. The agreement, formalized in Santa Clara, California, establishes a concrete roadmap for integrating artificial intelligence into physical environments.
The partnership focuses on three primary areas: robotics, AI-dedicated data centers, and software-defined autonomous vehicles. LG will provide hardware expertise, including the manufacturing of actuators, sensors, and batteries, while Nvidia will supply the computational intelligence through platforms such as the Isaac GR00T model and Jetson Thor computing systems.
The rollout will begin with practical industrial applications. By late 2026, LG plans to deploy CLOiD robots on wheels within a washing machine factory in Tennessee, USA, to test their performance in real-world manufacturing settings. This serves as a precursor to the company’s goal of presenting a bipedal humanoid robot during the first quarter of 2027. Additionally, the companies aim to complete an 80-megawatt AI factory in Cheonan, South Korea, by the first half of 2028.
