LG and Samsung launch high‑resolution 5K and 6K gaming monitors

LG Electronics introduced the UltraGear evo GM9 5K gaming monitor (model 27GM950B). It uses Hyper Mini LED technology with 5120 × 2880 resolution, 2304 local dimming zones and a peak brightness of 1250 nits, earning a VESA DisplayHDR 1000 rating. AI‑driven features such as 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound enhance picture and audio without extra hardware. The Dual Mode lets users switch between 5K at 165 Hz and QHD at 330 Hz, both with a 1 ms response time, and the panel supports NVIDIA G‑SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium. Connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1 and USB‑C with 90 W power delivery, allowing a laptop to be powered and driven by a single cable. LG says the monitor will be available in Hungary in the summer of 2026.

Samsung added a new model to its Odyssey lineup, offering a 6K gaming display. While the exact panel technology is not detailed, the launch underscores the ongoing competition among monitor manufacturers to deliver ever‑higher visual fidelity for gamers, even as Samsung opts not to use OLED for this product.
