Samsung and LG unveil next-generation OLED technologies at IMID 2026

At the IMID 2026 exhibition in Busan, South Korean display leaders Samsung Display and LG Display unveiled significant advancements in OLED technology.

Samsung Display demonstrated a 16-inch OLED panel designed for high-end gaming notebooks, featuring a 2.5K resolution and a 300Hz refresh rate. This prototype aims to provide smoother motion and faster response times for competitive gaming. Additionally, Samsung showcased a 7.6-inch Wide View Display for foldables, which maintains uniform brightness across curved areas, and a 20-inch stretchable display using Micro LED technology.

LG Display introduced FLiPP (FMM-less Innovative Pixel Patterning) technology, which replaces traditional Fine Metal Masks with a UV-based patterning process. This innovation is reported to increase pixel aperture ratio by 55%, deliver 1.6x higher brightness, extend panel lifespan by 2.4x, and reduce power consumption by 13%. The technology also facilitates the production of larger, more efficient panels by eliminating alignment issues associated with traditional masks.
