LG C6 OLED TV priced higher despite modest performance gains

LG’s latest C‑series OLED, the C6, adds a newer Alpha 11 processor, a higher maximum refresh rate of up to 165 Hz and a slight boost in peak brightness. Large‑screen models (77‑ and 83‑inch) also feature a Tandem OLED panel that delivers noticeably brighter images. Reviewers praised the TV’s picture quality, gaming performance and features such as Filmmaker Mode and Dolby Vision, but noted that the visual improvements over the previous‑year C5 are incremental.

The C6’s launch price is substantially above the C5’s, with the 55‑inch model costing about $500 more and the 65‑inch about $700 more in the United States. In the United Kingdom, the older 48‑inch C5 is being sold at roughly a 50 % discount, making it a more compelling value proposition for most buyers. Analysts suggest the C6’s price will likely fall over time, and that only buyers seeking the largest screens with Tandem OLED may find the premium justified.
