LG claims ultra‑high‑refresh OLED monitors boost gaming performance and launches 540 Hz model on sale

LG Display released an internal study involving 31 regular gamers that found a 480 Hz OLED monitor can raise the number of targets hit in a shooting game by up to 38 % compared with a 60 Hz panel. Participants also reported lower latency and faster reaction times as the refresh rate increased. The study notes that the benefit diminishes between already high rates (e.g., 240 Hz to 480 Hz) and that the 480 Hz OLED panels are currently expensive.

At the same time, LG announced its UltraGear 27GX790B‑B gaming monitor, a 27‑inch QHD OLED screen capable of 540 Hz in Dual Mode (and up to 720 Hz in HD mode). The display features a 0.02 ms response time, G‑Sync/FreeSync compatibility, HDR TrueBlack 500 certification and a built‑in USB hub. It is being offered in French retail stores for €749.99, a €100 discount from the regular €849.99 price.
