LG AI Research unveils specialized Expert AI for industry

LG AI Research has unveiled its specialized ‘Expert AI’ solutions designed to solve complex challenges in the manufacturing, finance, and science sectors. During the ‘LG AI Talk Concert 2026’, the company showcased the EXAONE model family, highlighting its ability to drive industrial efficiency through agentic AI.

In the scientific field, the ‘EXAONE Discovery’ model successfully identified a hair loss treatment candidate by reviewing 420,000 substances in just one day, a process that previously took 22 months. The company also announced plans to launch an ‘AI Autonomous Laboratory’ by the end of the year, which will combine AI with robotics to automate the entire new material development cycle.

In manufacturing, the ‘EXAONE Tabular’ and ‘EXAONE Omni-Inspect’ models have already demonstrated significant impact, with LG Innotek reporting an 85% reduction in product lead times. In finance, the ‘EXAONE Business Intelligence’ solution is expanding globally, including partnerships with the London Stock Exchange Group.

Separately, a survey by AWS indicates that AI adoption among South Korean companies has reached 58%, up from 48% last year. While 81% of adopting firms reported productivity gains, many still face challenges in establishing formal AI strategies and measuring return on investment.
