LG Display invests in massive OLED production in China
LG Display and its Chinese partner, Guangzhou Development Zone Holding Group, are conducting a 1 billion yuan (approximately $150 million) recapitalization of the LG Display Optoelectronics Technology (China) Co., Ltd. joint venture.
The investment aims to modernize the Guangzhou facility, transitioning it into a dedicated “Large OLED” hub after abandoning LCD production. The new production line is designed to manufacture ultra-large OLED modules, including 77-inch, 83-inch, 97-inch, and a market-leading 111-inch format.
According to industrial documents, no other OLED module line in the world is currently capable of processing 111-inch panels. LG Display intends to target both the high-end consumer television market and the professional large-format display sector.
