LG Electronics and ARA launch electronics trade-in program in Austria
LG Electronics Austria and Altstoff Recycling Austria (ARA) have launched a joint initiative titled ‘Defekt gegen Neu’ (Defective for New). The program allows consumers to trade in defective electronic devices at selected retailers in exchange for a bonus of up to 150 euros when purchasing specific new LG models.
The promotion covers various large appliances and electronics, including televisions, washing machines, dryers, washer-dryers, side-by-side refrigerators, and freezer-refrigeration combinations. The campaign is scheduled to run through November 22, 2026, with registration possible until December 6, 2026.
Returned devices will be processed by Elektro Recycling Austria GmbH, a subsidiary of the ARA Group, which specializes in the collection and recovery of electronic waste. The initiative aims to ensure that valuable raw materials are reintegrated into the economic cycle through professional recycling processes, which currently achieve recycling rates of over 80 percent.
