LG Electronics and KEPCO launch smart appliance cashback pilot
LG Electronics and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch a ‘Smart Appliance Cashback Pilot Project.’ The initiative aims to stabilize the power supply by encouraging the use of high-efficiency appliances during periods when renewable energy generation, such as solar power, is high.
Under the pilot program, participating customers can receive a refund of 100 KRW per 1kWh used, with a maximum limit of 300 KRW per hour. This applies to usage during daytime hours (11:00 AM to 2:00 PM) on weekends and public holidays during the spring (March–May) and autumn (September–October) seasons. The cashback will be automatically deducted from electricity bills through KEPCO’s energy cashback service.
The eligible appliances include washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, and clothing stylers, including combo models like the WashTower and WashCombo. To participate, customers must apply via the KEPCO website and link the service through the LG ThinQ AI home platform app.
