LG Electronics launches battery recycling campaign

LG Electronics has launched its second ‘Battery Turn’ campaign of the year, a resource circulation initiative running from October 1 to November 30. The program encourages customers to return spent wireless vacuum cleaner batteries to LG Electronics service centers or via their online brand shop. Notably, the campaign accepts batteries regardless of the original manufacturer.

Participants who return old batteries are eligible for discounts on the purchase of new LG CordZero A9, A9S, or A7 batteries. The collected batteries undergo a safe disassembly process to recover rare metals, including nickel, lithium, cobalt, and manganese. Since the campaign began in 2022, LG Electronics has collected over 156 tons of waste batteries, totaling more than 340,000 units, and recovered over 13 tons of rare metals.

Supported by the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy, the Korea Environment Corporation, and E-Cycle Governance, the initiative also serves a social purpose. Profits generated from the recycling of recovered metals are used to support local communities, including donations of vacuum cleaners to child welfare facilities and other social welfare centers.
