LG Electronics launches Robotics Business Unit to accelerate growth

LG Electronics is creating a dedicated Robotics Business Unit that will consolidate all capabilities needed to commercialise robotics, from business development to supply‑chain and production operations. The unit, which will report directly to CEO Lyu Jae‑cheol, is scheduled to start on 1 July 2026 and will be led by Song Si‑yong, a former senior manager at LG’s Institute of Manufacturing Engineering.

The organization will also establish a specialised Data Factory at LG’s Yangjae R&D campus in Seoul, generating high‑quality operational data for LG’s Robot Foundation Model (RFM). Integrated under the “One LG Solution” approach, the unit will combine LG group expertise—including LG CNS and LG AI Research—to target industrial, commercial and residential robotics markets and to expand partnerships with global technology leaders.
