LG Electronics opens new smart appliance plant in Brazil

LG Electronics has inaugurated a new smart manufacturing plant in Paraná, Brazil, marking its first new facility in the country in 21 years. The project involved an investment of approximately 310 million dollars (1.5 billion reais) and covers 77,000 square meters.

The facility focuses on the production of household appliances, specifically refrigerators, with an annual capacity projected between 500,000 and 600,000 units. The plant utilizes Industry 4.0 technologies, including AI Vision for real-time quality control and industrial robotics for heavy tasks such as handling doors.

This strategic move aims to strengthen LG's supply chain in Latin America. By producing locally, the company expects to reduce delivery times in Brazil by up to 80%. Furthermore, the plant is intended to supply the Argentine market starting in late 2026, with LG Argentina CEO Enrique Laffue projecting the sale of over 40,000 Brazilian-made refrigerators in Argentina by 2027.
